Join us for our first ever Healing He(Arts) Commun Join us for our first ever Healing He(Arts) Community Art Fest on October 14 from 10am-4pm! We’ll be hosting art and movement workshops, an art gallery for our Stop the Hate Artist and local vendors from SGV and across LA County! This art fest is open and free to the public. This month we will be highlighting events in AAPI This month we will be highlighting events in AAPI history. This first week, we chose to highlight the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which placed was the first act that placed restrictions on immigration of a certain ethnic group in the United States. The Chinese Exclusion Act made immigration more difficult and basically banned Chinese laborers from immigrating to the US. Congress also placed quotas to limit how many immigrants would be admitted into the US. It wasn’t until WWII that congress repealed all of the exclusion acts. However, quotas remained until the Immigration Act of 1990 passed, which was the most comprehensive and flexible cap on immigrant visas

Join us at SIPA’s AAPI Solidarity Conference: A Join us at SIPA’s AAPI Solidarity Conference: A Youth Empowerment Event! This conference will focus on teaching youth the importance of AAPI community solidarity, how to be effective leaders, and how to navigate our experiences as AAPI youth. The conference will consist of speakers, workshops, and healing sessions prepared by community organizations. The event will close with a community gathering where attendees can receive community resources, network with their fellow peers, and celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month (APAHM)! This is a free event! 

WHO: Open to all youth (ages 16 – 24 years old) residing in the Los Angeles area. All identities are welcome to learn how to better support the AAPI community and be an ally!
